Great video, and I have seen some of your other videos, no i haven't liked all of them, and i probably disagree with you on about 90% of all that i have seen, but I do like to hear your thoughts and what you have to say even if it is to only work out for myself how i feel about the topics you discuss.

I like that you are a take it or leave it man and say what you have to say, as far as the idea of voting or ranking what people comment,or the videos they make, I am of two minds about it, on the one hand, I believe it can work, but honestly, the question in my mind is why would it be needed. Like your videos, I wouldnt comment on, or rate them unless i was going to be fair, and I think like anybody i have my moments when i am just biased. You do seem to put it right there what you think, and how you feel about subjects.

You don't ask me to comment here or anyone else, but if you do leave a comment, or I do, I really don't agree someone should be shut it down, just because they don't like what you have to say or how they express yourself, and i think it can get murkym even amongst people who as you said might be the most popular being the ones doing the rankings. I just think if someone makes a video, even if it isnt very well liked.

I agree with you about about the snarky comments, i noticed that a lot on other video sharing websites over the years and now that is almost all there is, that and titty shots to lure you into a video, to begin with. Those who arent really contributing to a discussion or atleast trying and only trying to troll or bait people then, i agree, about if those people are just going to start shit maybe they shouldn't be here.

If a person is stupid enough to share their personal problems on a public vlogging site then he/sh needs to be able to deal with what comes his/her way. Thats real life.

So what you are saying, is that someone who produces more deserves more? Doesn't that go against everything you believe in?

what we simply need is the ability to remove unwanted comments and images from the comment section of our vlogs, just as we can on our blogs and home pages.

But isn't his point system only to be used by people who make videos?

I think you owe Deborah an apology. She was treating you, Gary like one of us. It might take a bit of a sense of humor and humility to recognize that but you were way out of line thrashing her the way you did.

I think I understand what you mean by a point system, and maybe in a more perfect internet it might work. But here, I think it would be subject to abuse and cause more problems than it would solve (of course, in a more perfect internet there would not be trolls or hateful socks).

I also agree with what Ms Tahllulah says. Deborah is a valuable contributing member of the community, and you were over the top with her.

I don't think, in cases where the comment is clearly a non-thought-through, intelligent or relevant reply, that you should feel obligated to reply. If you have a long video about politics, and someone says, "ah-ha, but what about this!" And proceeds to bring up a good point (right or wrong), then sure, it's good to reply, either saying, "ah, clever, I hadn't thought of that" or "ok, granted, but here's why that's wrong, too."
But when someone just posts something stupid and petty, then you can ignore it... give us people who are witnessing the exchange credit enough to see through the junk. Even without deleting it/closing comments or making a ten minute video reply, we will still understand that Commentor X's lazy retort really didn't undermine your ideas one iota. In fact, if that's the best they've got, the comparison can only look good on you. :)

"He kicks me in the balls, but he has no balls for me to kick back."

Exactly. So there's no need or pressure to kick back. When it's beneath you, you can ignore it and we get it. I think that would teach the weasels a better lesson than giving in to their baiting by giving them the show they want, anyway.

People who want to use negative ratings could just as easily use a "positive approval or lack of" system as a weapon. They could A) not vote to approve someone they know in their conscience should be approved and more importantly B) go around voting for everyone except the person they want to use the hierarchy against. Either way, they can manipulate the system to put their friends high and their enemies low.
