Something that was inspired by something completely different

(BTW....That's my Dad's phrase...dunno where he got it from but it's served me well in certain life circumstances.  Flattered that Helen remembers it! )

Dan, wouldn't it be refreshing if people shared how they feel about us with us?  Meh!  Understand the jarring, awful emotion when these types of conflicts erupt.  Esp if it's something that was buried long ago and we are forced to revisit old issues.  Amazing how tender those spots can still be.  Nothing rational about it,  esp when the news is delivered by a third party.

I had a similar issue not so long ago with my niece who repeated something about my deceased Brother that her Mother told her.  It blew me away and I had to just put it away on a shelf (wonder how long that will stay up there before crashing on the floor?!?).  It sucked because he's not around to defend himself and my Niece was too young to remember the issue that her Mother was talking about.

Meh!  (Oh wait I typed that already and here I am getting annoyed.)

OK, bye!  (Nice to see you vlogging again :)

I care what people think of me too much...It makes it hard to get close to anyone. I have been opening up and socializing IRL more this last year, and it has been a mine field.

I just hope to hell I am not dealing with death, at my age and my wife's situation cancer is a luminous aspect of my life. I always regard your thoughts high Dan and always look forward to your vlogs.

my favorite comment in this thread:

"and yes we do give value to what other people think of us"

because we are social creatures and almost all of us constantly depend on our relations to others. The perception by others (as a whole) of us are the main driver for the routes our lives are taking. Not every single crazy, jealous or mindless minority perception, but the perception of the majority.

This reminded me that I've missed hearing you speak and share your thoughts in such an articulate open fashion.  Thanks for this.
