argent- lol

I'm a part of a dozen teacher networks and this has furiously made the rounds.

Texas has long had a reputation among progressive educators as being ground zero for revisionist textbook history. It's home to many of the big publishing companies that were favored by the Bush Admin. I could go into a long diatribe about how they're still profiting BIG-time from the ed policy they shaped there and in Congress...not to mention the testing companies and some others.

Sadly, it's not anything new. Parents should be very concerned about the invisible political tendrils reaching into their children's classroom. That's all I can really say without launching into a rant. :o)

Do, I agree ? NO, but then again I don't agree with many things people opt for their children to learn.
I think the blind ignorance on both sides is showing, and as people impose their beliefs on others, eventually we are going to see push back, and thus NOW you have this BS, which eventually is going to play out everywhere.

People do have the right to teach THEIR children as they see fit, whether I agree or not. Just because the text books are being changed for Texas does not mean they have to be purchased by every school district, of you have a big problem with the changes and how they impact your community, get together with neighbors friends, relatives, and address your local school board, and elected officials.

Personally I think schools should be limited to teaching basics reading, writing, and math.

@Ish, oddly, the London underground is the oldest subway in the world, at around 150'ish years old, it just gets up dated every decade or so
