Thanks to our generous members, we were able to pay the fee for the next year. We have about $ 150.00 left for the URL fees and as basis for the next funding campaign.
NING leaves us until March 2015 for the transition to NING 3.0. SO we have a good half year to decide how to react to that. Basically, there are only two choices: stay on NING or go somewhere else.
If we stay on NING, we will:
- keep our history, including the videos
- need to reduce our members to…Continue
If you've seen it, you witnessed an epic game in the true sense of the word.
Within 3 minutes, the German team annihilated the Brazilian team. The Brazilian team fell completely apart after Germany made the 2 : 0 - and then Germany made 3 goals in 3 minutes, to end a game that was considered to be extremely close, tough with probably the two best teams of this years World Cup after 29 minutes. At that point of the game, Germany lead 5:0 - with another hour to play and a Brazilian team…Continue
It's that time of the year again - the site needs money to pay for the upcoming NING fees.
We still lack somewhere around $350.00, SSTom can give a more precise number.
This should not become a discussion about NING 3.0, since the timeline is rather short.
If you feel this site is worth to be kept alive for another year, please contact SSTom for the donation details. Please don't take too much time thinking about this, or any further plans for the site will be…Continue
Teams going to round 2:
While driving home tonight, we saw this small black cat, sitting on the last step of the stairs to a house that's for sale in the village before ours. We know this cat, because we've seen it there before and also in the fields around the village. Last time we saw it, we thought that maybe it belongs to the house for sale and that it's - well, lonely.
Today. I stopped the car and tried to make contact. It hid behind a bush and talked to me, but when I came closer, it ran away.
Brazil - rather shaky, will make it to the next round, after that, I don't think they'll go far
Mexico - solid, will make it to the next round, could surprise
Croatia - have their moments, won't be enough against Mexico
Cameroon - total disappointment
Picking up on a tradition established by a former member, I hereby announce, that tomorrow, I will post a video, announcing the candidacy of your current triumvirate of co-owners for the upcoming term.
We will run as a package and will thereby offer you the choice of voting for the devil you know.
Until then my friends,
I know, that for all you Americanos, this might seem a bit outdated, but I am just currently watching the series "Deadwood". As with many of the newer American TV series, I am utterly delighted. It is well written, well acted, has humour and depth - in short, it has everything German TV series lack fundamentally (you have no idea of the possible obtuness of obtuse until you've seen with full consciousness and understanding German TV).
But this time, I must admit that it is very hard…Continue
1. The transition must be made at latest in the first days of March 2015.
2. Currently, our videos are not migrated, but will be in a later stage. So we will wait until it is sure that our videos will migrate with us.
3. After transition, we will no longer be able to upload to VH directly but can only embed from a video hosting site such as YouTube or vimeo.
4. NING has new pricing plans. I would suggest choosing NING basic, which will cost us…Continue
Normally, athletes peak around their mid-twenties, depending on the sport, a few years earlier or later. But 30 is for most sports the age from where it all goes downhill, the body just gets too old for successful competition. At 40, in most sports, athletes have long ended their career and some of them started coaching.
This time around, the Olympic Games show several successful athletes who just turned 40 or even turned 40 some years ago and were able to win Olympic Medals. The…Continue
As some of you might know, the Winter Olympics started yesterday. Hockey events haven't started yet, so there's time to help our US members get acquainted with some of the more "special" sports (meaning all sports that no one in the US cares about).
Surely one of the most aesthetically doubtful sports known is the double luge. It is dominated by the teams from Germany and Austria - and women don't do it,…Continue
German skier Maria Höfl-Riesch won twice this week-end on the slopes of Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada.
This is a picture of her published after today's race in German news.…Continue

I thought this was funny
How do you differentiate between "anybody" and "anyone" (or for that matter, "somebody" and "someone")?
As if pugs weren't ugly enough already...Continue
The list gets longer: now we know that the USA are spying on their allies.
I'd say: what a surprise! The only thing surprising is that they got caught. Not so surprising: the German Secret Service didn't know until recently, at least they say so.
A little disappointing: the US remain the same shit hole of arrogance, violence and self-serving warmongering…Continue
...in the old industrialised world (Europe, North America, Japan. Australia) tend to vote for conservative parties, that objectively work against their interests. The question is why. Are the working poor, who get fucked over by their bosses on a daily basis, not only poor but also hopelessly stupid?
No, they aren't.
They have understood very well, that compared to the rest of the world's population, they are privileged and that status is about to change, as…Continue
