OK, I've given this some thought and have come to the conclusion that it's just not enough to create a blog about some current event / news story and expect people to "get" why I feel it's significant (or perhaps see in it what I see).
Too often people don't take the time to watch an embed or follow a news link and the conversation generally erodes to cliche bickering in reference to whatever someone assumes is the intended message of a blog.
