Just a Word or Two for the Fallen.

Until very recently, I've been effectively off of VH for a while, in my own world, only lurking, with hardly a comment. It seems much has happened in the meantime on VH, which  I've taken note of without understanding. The most notable is the WTF with Mcgrawtim. There goes a vlogger extraordinaire . He told many stories of his experiences that I found enthralling. Rarely a boring/ frustrating moment with that guy, except for his soft voice. (I'm hard of hearing ya know.)

All of that seems…

today's the day a girl can ask you to marry them

of course you could say no

but start running anyway, all you good looking vloggerheads men just in case.

I would like to spend a moment pondering the advantages of marriage

I can't think of any

Even if prince charming paired up with princess perfect, it can't last

can it?

All it takes is a foolish moment and all is…

VH on IPhone Keeps Getting Worse!

So, visiting VH via iphone has always been less than ideal. The most obvious flaw is that you can't watch the videos... Youtube videos? Sure, Vimeo, Netflix. and all all kinds of other vids? No problem. But Ning vids? Still not happenin'. ...Actually, there is an app that SOMETIMES let's you watch vids here, but it only "finds" the video on the page you're on like 50% of the time.

But that's always been a problem.. that and how it keeps reverting to the utterly useless "mobile… Continue

Scary Movies and Roof Rattling

My sister was diagnosed with schizophrenia when I was about 8 years old. In order to pay for the medical/mental help she needed, Dad worked 3 jobs and Mom worked 2. I was one of the original latch key kids.

Dad was stationed at Millington for a tour of Instructor's duty, worked at the enlisted men's club on base as a bartender and managed a pizza hut on weekends. I would often go with them to pizza hut. At that time, they still had bars and bar stools in the Pizza Hut. I would get a… Continue

Our faith will take the stones he broke and break his teeth

This is my review of John Adams' The Death of Klinghoffer which I went to see on Saturday at the ENO. It will be published in the University paper.

This opera blew me away. It takes a certain amount of confidence for a writer to put words into the mouths of long-dead heroes, or painters to create images of great men, but it takes guts for artists to approach a recent and controversial event which is in the…

bloggy thirtytwo

it was a weak week for blogs. there was one or two that i could have given the bloggy to and not felt like 'it would be better off not having the award this week'. so i came to the vloggerhood tonight ready to give out this weeks completely average blog an award when i came across the eventual winner that just did sneak in 2 hours before the week was over. the reason was because it couldnt have been more simple and plain, yet made me think more than any of the other longer blogs that were…

Can Your Daddy Come Out to Play?

We lived in Rhode Island for a year when I was six. That was when/where Dad made it official and adopted me. We lived in a one bedroom trailer. One of those silver ones. When I asked my mom where I was going to sleep, she said, "In the closet in the kitchen." And sure enough, there was a closet with sliding doors in the kitchen. When you opened the doors, there were several side by side drawers with a countertop, and then another shelf above that. The drawers were perfect as my dresser but the… Continue

Let Me Tell You About My Dad

So, let me tell you about my dad.

My mom was married, had 3 children. I was the third. Unfortunately, it was not a match made in heaven and when I was about nine months old, she gathered the courage, or her sense of survival kicked in, something - but she packed up her kids and her stuff and left Buffalo to return home to Corpus Christie. A few years of struggling, socializing and...

Symfony et le Développeur Web

I think I have come up with a brilliant scheme to move to Europe or at least increase my chances of going there on a business trip. I've learned enough French to read stuff on the Internet so I've been exploring the web sites of my French counterparts, le développeur web. I noticed that many French web developers use Symfony, an open source web application framework for PHP. Symfony was created by a company based in Paris so…

Site Fundraising, with an Anonymous Option (One Idea)

I did a little search and found this service:  AMMADO FOUNDATION

It basically serves as an intermediary between non-profits and their donors.

There are a handful of these types of online services, but this one provides a widget you can add to your website for donors to contribute that offers an option to remain anonymous.

The way it works,…
