One of the things that kept me busy while offline for 5 weeks was my camera. I bought a Canon SX20, and spent some time taking pictures. It's 12mp, so I can see that I'll be re-shooting a lot of my 6mp pictures. It also takes HD video. I tried that for the first time last night. The birds at the beginning of my St. Patrick's Day video were 1/4 mile away. (The camera has a 20x zoom.) I recorded them in 640x480. I've had a buffer issue on my computer since late Wednesday, when I deleted Norton Internet Security. Norton wouldn't run at all, even with the latest virus definition update, which was two hours old. I had to renew my subscription ( which gives you automatic updates) before the program would be re-enabled. The software was useless. Once I installed Avast I did a system scan, but it was clean, so the problems came from the Norton uninstall. It seem like some of the old settings it returned to my… Continue

I made a side trip to Buffalo's Erie Basin Marina yesterday. My gloves were too bulky to press any buttons on the camera, so I went without. At 20°F, and a slight breeze off the lake, my fingers were aching before I finished my first video clip. Some of the images in my vlog would have made great stills, but I'll have to go back to find a finger that fell off, as it is, so I didn't stick around too long. Next time - lighter gloves.
